Jo Siffert was a Swiss racing driver who was born on July 7, 1936, in Fribourg, Switzerland. He is known for his achievements in Formula One racing and sports car racing during the 1960s and 1970s.
Siffert began his racing career in the early 1960s, competing in various European racing events before making his Formula One debut with Rob Walker Racing Team in 1962. He later went on to drive for teams such as Brabham and Porsche in Formula One.
One of Siffert's most notable achievements was winning the 1968 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, driving a Lotus 49 for Rob Walker Racing Team. He also achieved success in sports car racing, winning the 1968 and 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Porsche team.
Tragically, Jo Siffert was killed in a crash during the 1971 World Championship Victory Race at Brands Hatch. He was highly regarded for his skill and daring as a driver, and his untimely death was a great loss to the motorsport community.
